Cherilyn Schutze M.Ed, LPC Intern
Hello! I'm Cherilyn and after a break, I’m back at Living Perspective Counseling! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern (under the supervision of Emilee Strain M.S., LPC-S) and have over 4 years experience in private practice, crisis assessment, and group therapy in both private practice and hospital settings. I earned my Master’s of Education in Counseling from the University of North Texas.
I enjoy working with teens and adults struggling with everything from everyday life stressors and transitions, to depression anxiety, emotional dysregulation, suicidal
ideation and self harm. My passion is helping teens, adults and families develop new ways of managing day to day life and mental health concerns as well as increase communication within families.
I’m mother of 4 wonderful adult daughters and 2 loving dogs. I was married to my high school sweetheart for 29 years, before he passed away 6 years ago from cancer. My heart is with those who are living with chronic illness and grief. I take a collaborative approach to therapy, working with you as a teammate to help you overcome the particular challenges you are dealing with. We will work together to cultivate healthy coping skills and help you learn new ways to think about and overcome the challenges you are facing. I employ
evidenced based treatments such as CBT and DBT and incorporate various activities including handouts, art activities, bibliotherapy (reading) and homework. I also have extensive training in both sand tray therapy and the highly sensitive personality.
One of my favorite quotes, from Dr. Wayne Dyer is “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.” I would be honored to work with you to help you find new ways to look at your struggles and gain the skills necessary to move forward in a healthier, happier way! Please reach out to see how we can work together!
