One Counselor, Multiple Perspectives

During an individual session you and your therapist will meet one-on-one in a safe, caring, and confidential environment to explore your feelings, beliefs, and/or behaviors; work through challenging or influential memories; identify aspects of your life you would like to change; better understand yourself and others; set goals; and work towards desired change.

There are a number of factors that influence your career development, including: your interests, abilities, values, personality, background, and circumstances. Career coaching will help you know and understand yourself and the world of work in order to make career, educational, and life choices. One goal of career coaching is not only to help you make the decisions you need to make now, but give you the knowledge and skills you need in order to make future career and life decisions. This occurs through both discussion with your counselor and assessments.

A couples counseling session involves both you and your partner attending sessions together. You and your partner will discuss specific situations and identify problems that you both would like to solve. Your therapist will collaborate with you to determine goals and an action plan. During your sessions, your therapist will act as an impartial third party working to ensure the two of you meet your goals successfully.

A family session is available for you and as many family members as you would like to invite. We encourage all household members, regardless of age, to attend family sessions. In a family session we will all work together to determine immediate goals during our time together and focus on addressing those specific issues.

Teenagers are in a unique transition of life where they are truly finding themselves. Therapy can help teens to become more resilient and independent. Teenagers experience a surge in their emotional development that may be difficult to manage. They are more likely to act on impulse, misinterpret social cues/emotions, and engage in dangerous or risky behavior. Because teenagers are in this particular developmental stage, we may utilize a multitude of techniques such as music, media, art, and other therapeutic activities.

Group therapy is beneficial for clients who would like additional support by surrounding themselves with individuals experiencing problems or symptoms similar to themselves. Additionally, the cost of group therapy is much less. Group sessions do have limited spaces available, so it is important you contact the office to reserve your space for the current programs you are interested in attending. Please see "Current Groups" for more information about what groups are currently running.

EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experience to bring these to an adaptive resolution. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced. During EMDR therapy, the client attends to emotionally disturbing material in brief sequential doses while simultaneously focusing on an external stimulus. Directed lateral eye movements are the most commonly used external stimulus, but a variety of other stimuli, including hand-tapping and audio stimulation, are often used as well.

Are you concerned you or someone you care about may be struggling with addiction? Our staff is skilled in assessing for addiction and can provide recommendations and options upon completion of the assessment.

If you have a loved one who is struggling with an addiction, eating disorder or a mental health issue and refuses to get help, an intervention might be the answer. An intervention is a life saving event where concerned family, friends, and coworkers join together in the intervention process to move their loved one into wellness. If you are interested in finding out more about interventions and if your loved one is a good fit for an intervention or not, please call for a free consultation.
